It's plenty wild here at the Jersey Shore today. The wind is incredible and the rain will begin any minute. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse. I'm dealing with a whole bunch of grouchy hotel guests who are really annoyed over the weather. Truthfully, I think it's really exciting and fun to watch the ocean on this kind of day, but then I'm getting PAID to sit here, while the guests who are paying to get a suntan at a beachfront resort are understandably disgruntled.

"We gots it coming out of our patooties. "

Now there's a visual that's very disturbing.

Not much tanning taking place in Finger Lakes wine country either--------

Started raining here at 6:12 AM on Sat--not good for the grapes--some of the early ripening or tight cluster varieties are starting to crack/split beause of the rains earlier this week--forecast is for 2-4 inches today/tonight--not good!!

8 am Saturday. WELL! I wish you could see the ocean this morning! What an exciting sight! Unfortunately it will erode the beach in a big way. The wind is so strong I could barely open the front door of the hotel to get inside. and the guests? Lots of long faces at breakfast. I feel bad for them.

What are doing still at the beach? All the kids up here have been back to school for a week or more.

NJ schools traditionally start the Wednesday after Labor Day. Labor Day is the "official" end of the summer season. The last hurrah as it were.
