This has absolutely nothing to do with wine, but I feel comfortable enough with this group to ask for some help. Each fall, my class studies the Sun, Moon, and Earth for the first science unit. On the night of October's full moon, I invite all the kids along with their parents to a "Full Moon Party." We gather at the beach to watch the moon rise over the Atlantic. It is usually a breathtaking sight. After watching the moon come up, we drive back to school and take part in some fun moon-related activities. I want to have a little contest for the parents. I plan to give them a list of songs with the word "moon" in the title and challenge them to see how many "moon tunes" they can hum or sing the first line of. I think it'll be a hoot. Here's where you come in. Please post any titles of songs you can think of that I can add to my list. I have quite a few already, but I'm sure that I can count on you for more! Nothing too obscure, please. Thanks group!

Any samba or Bossa with the word "lua" in the title (and there are 100's of them) will also qualify. "Lua Cheia" (full moon) is a very popular song title.

Georgie, on a related note, I think the single most interesting experience I had in school (but then I dropped out in the 9th grade!) was a junior high science teacher who showed us the difference between "hard" science and social science and, more importantly, how to think outside the box with this:

We split into five groups of six and spent three weeks inventing a primitive society with tools, religion, calendars, musical instruments and even writing and then BURIED the artifacts in the margins of the athletic fields. Then each group dug up another group's "archeological site" (using screens and grids and everything) and tried to reconstruct what the stuff told us about the people who made them. The differences between intention and interpretation were direct projections of the interests and personalities of the interpreters.

I have been a sceptical bastard ever since about everything from the Pyramids to Politics...

Roberto, that experience shows teaching at its best. Thanks for all the songs, everybody. I have plenty for the contest. Now if you'll all pray for good weather on October 10, I'd appreciate it. For three years running the moon has risen like a huge orange ball surfacing from the sea. It's fantastic. This year we'll even get to see Mars as a bonus. A man who stayed at the hotel this summer belongs to an astronomy club near Philadelphia and was intriuged by the Full Moon Party idea. He's offered to come set up his telescope for us that night. I can hardly believe that he's willing to make the trip, but he is! Now what's that wine I should drink that night when the event is over? Luna de Luna or something like that?

Hey WOW--"Fly Me To the Moon" is not the title of that song--"In Other Words" is, but sometimes both titles appear on the sheet music.
