Associated Press columnist Tracie Cone had a comprehensive article on the Paso Robles wine scene in the weekend papers including our New Hampshire Union Leader. It was well done without one exception; the word Zinfandel was not mentioned once. IMHO that is the grape that put Paso on the map, and they still produce some of the best to be had there. I tried to contact her, but I guess AP shields their writers pretty well, so I'll just post my indignation here and elsewhere.

I think Tracie Cone is referring to "Wine Spectator" at the start of the article although the name of the magazine is not given. The article in "Wine Spectator" does give some credit to Zinfandels in Paso Robles.

IK, she's probably too young to know of the Zinfandel days.

History has little place in American culture.

One of the greatest bottles I've had the fun of imbibing was the 1977 Mastantuano Dusi vineyard zin. At least aa 98. WW (Another WW fat-finger moment)

Ah yes, Pasquale Mastantuono, a very much unheralded and under appreciated winemaker. The guy made some awesome Zins for many years. We first visited almost 20 years ago and met Pasquale, who apparently was quite enamored with Judy because he spent about 40 minutes with us ignoring everyone else in the tasting room. We left with two bottles of his 25th Anniversary 1992 Barbera, the last of which we had 3 years ago. It was still a great wine.
