Being that I'm from NY and the Marlins beat the Cubs you would think that I would be for the Yanks.

Nope! I guess I'm like the rest of the country that is just sick and tired of them winning every year.

Even when I was in NY we would call them the Skankies!!

Sorry to all you Yankee fans, which includes most of my family! There is always next year.

One note though. I think Roger Clemens, who had a phenominal career, will be missed.

I wanted a Cubs-Red Sox series once several other teams were eliminated (Oakland, San Fran, Kansas City). Didn't watch any full games in the Series but tried to tune in for the end of a few and was rooting for the Marlins because of the underdog thing. I tuned in about five or ten minutes late for the end of the six and final game and saw the celebration and interviews rather than the final out. Beckett, the pitcher, must be really something--only 23 years old.

I'm nominally a Yankee fan, since I grew up rooting for them, but I have to say I'm getting tired of it. My personality is really more aligned with the underdog, Steinbrenner is impossible to enjoy in any way, etc. I guess I'll always have a certain affection for the Yanks, but I'm becoming more and more of generalist when it comes to baseball. I'm not big on expansion teams, but the Marlins were really fun to watch and I didn't feel disappointed by the series--it had some classic moments.

I'll betcha' Beckett is a Yankee at free agent time.Just kidding. Ditto on Steinbrenner, but what about Ruth, Gehrig, Ford, Berra DiMaggio, Mantle, Mattingly, Guidry and the true Yankee tradition? That, IMHO, can't be besmirched by some anyone's megalomania.

Wonder who Grady Little will be managing come next year. Looks like his faith in his players' perceived ability to continue in their best form was misplaced and upper management felt so also. Without really saying so, they thought he should have been a more proactive manager rather than relying on Pedro's word.

Their history is why I have a fondness for the Yanks, along with a the presense of a few players: Bernie, Jeter, Posada, and Mariano Rivera--I love watching those guys and rooting for them. But the current state of the team also leaves much that is not fun for me to cheer for. So I end up with an affection for them generally, while I often root for other more exciting teams.

Here in Atlanta, I have taken to hiding once the postseason begins. It gets rather ugly and, well, predictable watching them choke year after year after year . . .
