I think that I like the doctoring end better than the patient end.

I believe that I tore my medial meniscus in my knee Saturday. Still can't walk on it. Went up to the horsepital yesterday and waited and waited for an Ortho buddy to take a look. Get an MRI today.

I was supposed to have Bob (kcwhippet) over for wine/dinner last night, but obviously that was out. I apologize to Bob. I had a phone message from him, but I figured he did not want a 10:30 pm return call telling him to go away.

And I've already plunked down mucho dinero for a Costa Rica dive trip in 20 days.

Not how is that for first class whining?

Ouch, ouch! Sympathies, BW! By way of a small consolation: at least a healthy knee isn't required for imbibing....

At your age, you should only chase one young woman at a time. If you plant and pivet to chase after another one, you'll end up blowin' out your knee.

Sorry to hear of your injury. I fell down about five stairs several years ago and ended up with suturing halfway around my leg below the right knee and 20 staples to close the wound on the outside. I can sympathize with you if you have to sit around with your leg propped up. As they said, it shouldn't matter to your nose, palate or swallowing mechanism--and you know to be careful with pain medication and alcohol combos.

Bucko,

Very sorry to hear about the knee. We figured it had to be some kind of problem, and hoped it wasn't too serious. In retrospect, after the past week, a bum knee must pale in comparison to what others have been experiencing, though we certainly do sympathize.

We've been stuck in various hotels, waiting for a flight home that hasn't been cancelled or overbooked. Finally made it home to MA from Seattle last night (Sep. 17) around midnight. As a consequence, I've been been without access to a computer for a week, so I'm way behind on checking the board.

On a much more serious note, between my wife and I, we've lost 18 people that we knew to last week's tragedy. There were 8 people I work with who were on the two planes that struck the towers - two I knew well and the others casually at work. My wife knew 4 on one of the planes and 6 in WTC1. This is a very sad time for us, and we realize that we have to go on. It will be hard to put this behind us, but it must be done though our hearts are very heavy and will be for some time to come.

We plan to be back out there in the Seattle area, so we'll have to try again to hook up.

Regards,
Bob

My God, Bob, I am sitting here in NY City depressed and traumatized, but I have been lucky that I do not know of anyone close or even remotely close who was killed in this tragedy.

So sorry to hear of your losses.

Glad you are home safe and sound. The tradgedy has affected us all, more so in your case.

I have a friend in Special Ops who suddenly disappeared...... I think that things are about to begin.

Kc, so sorry to hear of the loss of your co-workers. This act has truly touched everyone in America, and some harder than others.
