Do not wish to diminish the horrors of the personal and property losses widely reported in the media. We have been wondering if anyone knows any news of the fate to wineries. For example Filippi is in Rancho Cucamonga. There has been concern, but no news posted on other forums.

IK, I haven't heard anything about any wineries and I think that would be a very camera friendly story for the sensationalist local news types.

Here in Santa Monica, as far as you can get from any of the fires either north or south, the air smells like a landfill fire, there is visible haze at ground level, my car is covered with ash, the sun is RED and you can look right at it and my neighbor's asthmatic little girl is breathing with a mask connected to a nebulizer. People are starting to ask just what is IN all of those miracle paints and carpets and vinyl siding products that we are now breathing...

Who needs Scary Movie 3, we are living in Hell right here!

Roberto

Oh, I'll be fine: if the fires get here it is truly the end of the world. Something that REALLY pissed me off today is one of the scam telemarketing firms that purports to raise money for the Fire Department (which is ILLEGAL here so you know they are rip off artists) took the opportunity to call me four times.

We had friends from Bakersfield visit us over the weekend (they went to Seattle to see their USC team kick the Huskies butts). They were supposed to fly out at 9am. That turned into 5pm, with diversions due to airport closings. They got home around 11pm.

All my friends in San Diego are looking for escape routes, literally. The price of Monday Nite Feetsball sure went down...They let all 70,000 folk who so desired to enter gratis; they asked for a donation for the San Diego relief Fund. From the bunch they showed on Telly they may have gotten enough to buy a glass of water! WW

My oldest nephew leaves in Pacific Beach area of San Diego. The fires are mostly in eastern San Diego County. If they come right up to his neighborhood, he better have an escape route by boat!

Well, it is raining, kind of....maybe it will help but I don't know. I think Gray Davis must be thanking his lucky stars every night and Arnold may start looking for a way out of being sworn in next week. Roberto

Heard from Lizardbrains. They got a lot of smoke in Oceanside. They could not go out of the house until the wind shifted on Wednesday. Even then did not want to venture any further than the village.
