2004 La Vieille Ferme
Cotes du Ventoux
$8

50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Carignan, 15% Cinsault

Earthy, spicy nose. A bit of balancing fruit on the front with more spice and earth at the finish. You usually don't get wines that are this earthy at this price point.

Great little wine, especially at only $8 bucks.

Label says its made by the same folks how make Chateau de Beaucastel.

Local store is running a heckuva sale on the LVF. Looks like I'll be forced to eat a lot more barbeque. Dang!

I had a very similar positive experience with 2004 Delas Cotes Du Ventoux, $8.99
Fruity, earthy, really good...

barnesy, I'm assuming the LVF is a red Rhone? I got a bottle of their rosé and although not bad, was not one of our favorites. Good for its price though. I think psychologically, the screw-on cork made me not want to like it. Go figure. DISCLAIMER Not trying to restart the cork vs. screw again.

Definitely was a red rhone, and a very tastey one at that.

We pick up an '05 on 03/24/07 at Kappy's in Malden, MA for $9.99. It weighed in at: 13% alcohol.

We popped it tonight with Garlic and Herb Sausage from Whole Foods in Portland, grilled over charcoal and oak chips; with baguette dipped on EVOO and granulated garlic; and salad with raspberry/hazelnut dressing. Simply great!!!

Glad you liked it!
I wish we got more in before I left my last store! I'll look in St. Louie...
