Howdy, Volks!

I'm hosting an Argentine Malbec tasting, and could use some recommendations for cheeses, breads, and other simple snacks to serve that would compliment the wine and remain as true as possible to the country.

Thanks in advance! DM

Duane, I wish I could attend this tasting. Just got back from Mendoza recently.

I would recommend manchego, stilton, truffle goat for cheeses. Cheeses that have distinct and pungent flavors tend to mesh well with the intense tannins.

I would suggest chorizo, or flat iron steak hors d'oeuvres along with some balsamic reduction seared portobellos.

Argentine malbecs go well with red meats, in particular beef loin or rack of lamb, even the shank.
