VDP d'Oc, $9 at Total. 60% syrah, 40% mourvèdre. I thought the mourvèdre was more distinguishable than the syrah in spite of the percentages, although the overall balance is great. I could have mistaken it for a good Bandol - similar nose, same high palate fruit, great finish. Very very good. This wine gets happy comments from everybody I serve it to - and at this price, a real steal.

My local Total finished its inventory of the 2001 - they are now selling the 2003. Unfortunately, the bottle I tried was not nearly as good as the 2001. I will try it again, but that first try was disappointing. Still not bad for $9, but no 2001.
