2000 Domaine Sorteilho
Saint-Chinian
$8

70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 10% Black Carignan

Decanted before consumed, as directed. Soft red fruit with herby/gamey notes on the nose. Same on the palate with soft, spicey tannins to give a very nice finish. A lot of wine for a little amount of bones.

Barnesy

2000 Domaine du Sacre Coeur, Saint-Chinian ($9.99 Local). This one has become quite popular around here. Ended up with two bottles from different places. Sort of like a light zinfandel, with a strong dose of spice. Matched just about perfectly with Penne in Pesto with broiled sweet Italian sausages, and salad with blue cheese dressing.

I don't think I've seen Barnesy around here in awhile. Where you been?

Popped the second Sacre Coeur tonight. As I understand it, the backbone is mourvedre, with a splash of syrah, and grenache to smooth it out. Just a little better than the previous bottle (more complex). Matched it with broiled fillet steaks in bacon rasher with OO and Morton rub; baguette dipped in OO and Parmesean; and salad with hazelnut/raspberry vinaigrette. Very nice way to end the weekend.
