Took a couple of bottles of this to our small group meeting from church to pair with smoked brisket, spud salad, ranch-style beans, cole slaw (all from a local dependable if uninspired vendor). 50-50 blend of Syrah and Grenache, 13% alc/vol, $9.99 at Costco. Huge hit among the assembled 19 souls (four of whom didn't imbibe) Needed a third bottle but had brought the '06 Vinsobres, which was a let-down for this group. In perfect balance for the food, a real back-up-the truck bbq wine at a give-away price. Do whatever necessary to make room in the cellar!

That's a nice price for a decent bottle of '07 Rhone. Nothing like that here in London. Actually what is coming back up into the stores for some reason are older vintages again. Just purchased a bunch of older ('95, '96, '98) bordeaux at decent prices. Hell even a '98 Yquem was reasonable in pricey district of Mayfair. BTW tried a new restaurant Corrigan's at Mayfair and it is very good. Had a ham hock (deboned and stuffed with the meat plus some shoulder meat (more like a minced version really), and it was rich and awesome. Made up for not having a reservation at St. John's

Have gone through six bottles of this stuff with our Scottish visitors, pairing with smoked goodies (BEEF brisket, baby-back ribs, chicken). Sides have been spud salad, cole slaw, cold three-bean salad and ranch-style beans. It's held up superbly with all.

I too have had a couple bottles of the 07 Perrin Cotes du Rhone. It really is lush with lots of fruit and its not dusty at all. I found it to pair well with almost anything with four legs, but the majority of the time, its great solo... oh and BTW, its a smoking good deal...

Had another a couple of nights ago with peasant stew. Still fantastic! No fading at all.
