We recieved this wonderful bottle of wine for Christmas, but don't know anything about it. Can anyone give us some information? We would really appreciate it.
Thanks,

This note from Wine Spectator (doesn't look promising):

Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Wine: Hermitage La Chapelle 1982
Score: 82
Price: $66
Country: France
Region: Rhône
Issue: Dec 15, 1999

From a vintage that wasn't memorable in northern Rhône. Drought conditions in the summer may explain the tough, rustic tannins. It's hard to cozy up to this red, but it shows characteristic mineral, leather and black fruit. May soften with time.--La Chapelle vertical. Drink now through 2005. (PM)

Hi Rob-Rob, and welcome to the Wine Board. This is one of the best wines produced in the world. As Bucko properly said, this is not one of their better vintages. However, great ones tend to stay true, year after year. Don't know how long it's been travelling, but after about a week's rest, you should give it a go. Recommend decanting it first.

Hi Robert and welcome to the board. Looked up my tasting notes on this bottle and it was dissapointing. Unlike the Bordeauxs' of 82, the Rhone district was hit hard and made a vintage that was forgettable. IK made a good suggestion. Open him up and maybe get a giggle or three. WW
