Over the past year I've enjoyed a couple of bottles of CDP in restaurants, and would like to buy some for home use. However, most of it is quite expensive, and I don't want to tap the kids' college funds for this (yet).

Can anyone recommend a good CDP for under $30?

Thanks much!

E. Guigal, Chateau de la Gardine, and Michel Lucien's Le Vieux Donjon for starters.

Most decent CdP IS under $30, unless you are talking about some of the special bottlings. I purchased 10 cases of 98 CdP, none over $28. Styles can vary drastically, from an almost Claret wine to a big, bold, peppery style. What's your pref?

Thanks very much for the leads, IK. I'll try to track some of these down. We've got a few good wine stores here that I can try.

I don't have a good answer to your question, Bucko. The two that I've had I recall were medium- to full-bodied and wonderfully complex. I think the best thing for me to do would be to try a few that differ in their style and see which resonate the most. Tough assignment, eh?

Thanks again!
