1999 Jose Maria da Fonseca, Periquita ($9 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Periquita is a traditional Portugese wine made from the red castelao grape in the region south of Lisbon. 12.5% alcohol. Gives you strawberries and a little tobacco leaf on the nose and upfront. Soft, mellow, approachable complexity cross the palate, and the finish lingers. Matched very nicely with broiled smoked sausage with horseradish (her) and Dijon mustard (moi), and salad with the last of our current blue cheese dressing. We had found more of the Blue Stilton that makes the best ever. Recommend both the wine and the cheese.
