One of my summer sippers is Sauvignon Blanc.

2007 Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand

Screwcap. 13% alcohol. The label describes the color as pale lemon. I would add to that a faint greenish tinge, reminding me of the peridot gem.
Refreshing acidity and a flavor palette combining lime, gooseberry and fennel? or lemongrass? on the palate. Nice summer sipper. Purchased last year and my final bottle of this.

2009 Petirrojo Sauvignon Blanc, D.O. Colchaqua Valley, Chile. Bisquertt Family Vineyards. 13.5% alcohol. Paid $8.99 at The Wine Merchant, Raleigh.
Bolder, more body than the Wither Hills. Lemon with suggestions of grapefruit. Good QPR. Had it with quiche lorraine. May lack elegance but delivered on value and impact. Again I'm left wondering how they can grow the grapes, harvest them, produce and bottle the wine, ship it all the way from Chile to North Carolina and make any profit at $8.99 retail. I would probably buy again although I prefered the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc that I had earlier this summer to both of these.
