1999 Rudesheimer Burg Rottland

Oops. I misspelled the wine. It is Berg Rottland rather than Burg Rottland.
This was a dry Spatlese wine from Leitz. Had it with Chilean sea bass, cumin cous cous, and finely julienned summer squash, onion, and halves of miniature tomatoes (possibly grape tomatoes) at Enoteca Vin Restaurant in Raleigh, NC. (Appetizer was shrimp and chanterelle mushroom risotto with lemony broth and fines herbes which I accompanied with a dry Sancerre rose' from Cotat, also 1999).
The Riesling was delightful--crisp, well structured and well balanced. Aromas hard to pin down but reminded me of apple and pear and perhaps almonds. Stood up to any spiciness of the cous cous. The restaurant price was $5.25 for 3 oz. of the Rudesheimer wine and $8.00 for 5 oz. of the Cotat Rose'.
A bottle of the Rudesheimer in a wine store would probably be in the $20-$25 range and well worth it. I'm just getting used to the idea of dry spatleses but this one is a winner.
