.....your Easter dinner. I really, really like lamb, so I'm making a braised lamb dish with three very nice 1 lb lamb shanks I picked up a few days ago. For that, I'm going to open a 1990 Ch. Pichon-Lalande. Judy just doesn't like lamb, so I'm also doing a 6 lb salt roasted chicken modified from a Thomas Keller recipe. With that, she gets a 2002 Duckhorn Napa Merlot. We also have my son, local daughter and their SO's coming for dinner, so I suspect there won't be much in the way of leftovers. The sides will be some of the usual suspects - garlic mashed potatoes, steamed baby carrots w/ some dill, butter and a squeeze of lemon, steamed broccoli (again with the butter and lemon), sauteed haricot verts with bacon, and a fresh baguette with roasted garlic to spread on it. That's the plan at the moment. Judy's been fighting a bit of a bug today, and if she's not doing better by tomorrow morning we'll probably have to call the dinner off so as not to spread the illness to the kids - especially to little Nicholas (two months short of two years). Anyway, we hope all of you and yours have a very nice day tomorrow, and you celebrate Easter, the first weekend of Spring, or whatever suits your fancy with some really wonderful food and really great wine. Cheers all.
