You've got the "cranberry sauce principle" in effect here, and as hotwine says, Cab and Merlot definitely don't go. If you don't like the Zin, Beaujolais, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer or Riesling choices, maybe you might want to try a dry Chenin Blanc. My personal choice is always Zin or maybe Pinot Noir.
