General Taste

Hello, I have just got a job at a steak and seafood restaurant with a extensive wine list. I am not very familiar with all these wines. I would like to know if someone were to ask me, what these wines generally taste like. If someone could give me a brief breakdown of what most of these wins taste like, I would greatly appriciate it. thank you. Here is the list:
1. Chardonnay
2. Sauvignon Blanc
3. Merlot
4. Cab. Sauvignon
5. Bourdeaux
6. French and Italian Wines
