Here's my .02 . . .

If I were you, I'd shoot for a shorter time frame. 40 years is a bit much, and that's where the problem here lies. Hopefully, you'll have plenty of memorable and noteworthy special occasions over the next, say, 10 years to have a special case or two to open wines marking the occasions. After the 10 years, you can always pick up another special case or two, possibly as (or part of) an anniversary gift, to mark the next 10 years of special moments of your lives. Just a thought.
