Hi frostfire and welcome to the board. Port is a wine thar's been fortified with brandy
before the fermentation process (converting sugar to alcohol) has been completed so it retains residual sugar. They are normally drunk as dessert wines. The normal red wines are made so all of the sugar is converted, thus most table wines are dry, and all of the better wines are made in this manner. Some of the wines you might enjoy are the Italian Lambruscos that retain some sugar. Start there and when you get tired of them come back and we'll do the next two-step. WW
