The Wine Bible is well written, and fairly comprehensive. That said, there's not a lot new in here, but if you're a novice, that shouldn't matter. It's very readable, with a front section about grapes, vineyards, winemaking, tasting etc. The last 2/3 is organized geographically, so can be read a few pages at a time depending on your interest. One criticism is her overuse of "clever" little analogies and anthropomorphisms for wine.

If you don't have many other wine books, Buy it, It's a steal at $16.
