Hi, bryj27 from Omaha. Welcome to the board. I'm originally from Lincoln. Sorry it seems to be a rebuilding year for the Cornhuskers.
Andrea Immer has a book of organized tastings that is quite helpful for a beginner. It is called "Great Wine Made Simple." Read the description of it on the www.amazon.com website and I think you might find it worthwhile. You might also look into the book "Wine for Dummies" which has a lot of basic information and is worth consulting even for those of us with a little more wine drinking experience. Wines have become a fun (and expensive!) hobby for me. Hope you develop the same enthusiasm.
