He was wrong. Shiraz is a grape, as are the two other grapes mentioned. Although the Cabernet he referred to is likely short for Cabernet Sauvignon, there is another Cabernet (Franc). So he could have been doubly wrong if he thought the wine is a blend of Merlot and one of the Cabernets but not the correct one.
