I walked by this at an LCBO the other day.....and then had to take a second...and third look.......

Here is an excerpt from the Toronto Sun...a very blue collar newspaper.

"Penka stands for perfection. And Ontario residents can rejoice in the fact they're the only people in the world able to purchase the new Ultra-Premium Smirnoff Penka Vodka, a hand-crafted luxury vodka from Smirnoff.

Penka has been available at some of the most stylish and upmarket bars in Paris and London, and now it's exclusive to select LCBO stores. C Lounge and Rosewater Supper Club, two of Toronto's hottest clubs, will also be serving Penka to patrons for a limited time, with C Lounge offering Penka through its bottle service.

Why Ontario? "We felt that the LCBO's Premium Fixture Program, which offers special tastings and extra profile to luxury and limited edition products, was the ideal venue (for) Smirnoff Penka," said Smirnoff's director of marketing Keith Gillespie.

Smirnoff Penka retails for $125 for a 700 mL bottle, making it one of the most luxurious vodkas on the market. It's now available at more than 70 stores across Ontario until October 2006.

Why is Penka so unique? It's qualities are derived from pain-stakingly precise processes that take place during distillation. Produced under the watchful eye of a master distiller, only the finest cut -- the highest quality and most balanced vodka created during distillation -- makes it into each bottle, delivering a luxury vodka of quality, character and distinctiveness."

having said that....I think most of it is taxes....In London, it retails for about $35-40 pounds which means that it is about $80 CDN....or about $45 in taxes....ouch..
