There's another big front page article in the SA Express-News this morning about the Pearl Harbor survivors' reunion in Fredericksburg the last couple of days. It featured parades, schoolkids meeting with the vets, firthand accounts, etc. And descriptions of the locals jumping to their feet with applause when vets entered restaurants. And that little town (pop. about 8500) is a sight to behold when one of their local boys comes home from war in a box.... shops are closed, everyone lines the streets between the church and cemetary with hats off and flags at half-staff.... no dry eyes anywhere. My kind of town. (Our little ranch is about 12 miles north of there.)
