We had the '02 last night. It had come with the Fall Sampler. List price: $25. Tech data: alcohol 14.5%; pH 3.65; acidity 5.8 gm/ltr. The pH is somewhat high resulting in, you guessed it, that old jammy feeling.

Blackberries like you stole from that ole black bear all over the place. On your nose, upfront, and over to the palate. In the middle the fruit is accompanied by pepper, cloves, other spice and that hint of tobacco that tends to show up in this one. And yes there is that jammy complexity with smoooooth tannin thrown in. The finish lingers nicely.

The kids brought over a couple of boneless sirloins in Teriyaki marinade that we threw on the grill along with dogs for the grandkids. There were potato, macaroni, and toss salads, along with sliced Brandywine tomatoes and cucumber. The wine matched perfectly.
