1999 Il Vescovo, Primitivo, Puglia (IGT). Smelled and tasted like a barnyard, and little else. Neither crisp nor tannic, which did not bode well for the future. The near zero acidity, very "unzinlike", caused firworks of the mouth when washing the after dinner salad down with it. Had decanted it an hour before dinner in case it need a break, but tasting before and after showed little difference. The good news is we had hamburger with it. The bad news is it was good hamburger. Two mitigating factors: 1. It might have been corked (can never tell for sure); and 2. Mrs IK liked it! "It was nice, nice balance;" and we drank out the same carafe. We do have a second bottle. If it is appreciably better, will report so here.
