2001 Tobin James Sangiovese

2001 Tobin James, Paso Robles, Sangiovese “Classico” ($18). Alcohol level 15.2%. It is an excellent New World/Old World mélange. The way we were feeling tonight made it perfect. It gave you overripe strawberries with a few grindings of black pepper on the nose and upfront. Very rich and complex with smooth tannin and noticeable oak across the palate, and a very long finish. We enjoyed it with ravioli in tomato sauce and spinach in front of a roaring fire with dim lights and Christmas music in the background. It was all very, very nice.
