1999 Vicara Visconti Cassinis Ravissa Barbera del Monferrato

Bright ruby in the glass, with a spiced cherry nose. Black cherry flavors, red spices, and some nice acidity carrying subtle oak on the finish. Nice wine for $16. FWIW, WE 88. We didn't want to cook on Christmas Eve, so we ordered deep dish pizza for delivery. This improved it.

I liked Vicara's Rubello at a wine dinner in Raleigh. It was a blend of Barbera with Nebbiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon and I thought it was a better food wine than the Barbera Superiore (unblended).
