Welcome to the board, ksnipe.
For a simple dinner as you suggested, I tend to go for my favorite simple white - Riesling. Since neither are overpowering, I think the two would balance together nicely. I happen to like a Schmitt-Sohne Riesling Qualitatswein (in the blue bottle). It's a great little wine for an outstanding price.
BTW - Are the chops going to be fried? If so, I may change my mind. Of course I'm not as knowledgeable as most of the folks here - they may serve you better. Hope this helps!
