Unwooded Chardonnay

For my nephew's prenuptial dinner I recommended a chardonnay or a sauvignon blanc as well as a cabernet sauvignon (for the beef choice on the menu). Like you, I thought more people are familiar with chardonnay. However, with the fish dish the sauvignon blanc probably would have been a better match than the chardonnay with which we ended up (we were restricted to the choices available at this one restaurant). The pasta dish would have been okay with the sauvignon blanc too probably although not an ideal match.
