I am finalizing the wines that I am going to serve at my wedding. I really think that Sauv Blanc would be more appropriate, but I just feel that too many people will want chard as that is all they know.
As such, I am looking for an unwooded chard at a low price point to serve. One recommendation I have gotten is St. Andrews Unwooded ( Austrailia I believe).
Anyone have any experience with this wine?
- Are all vintages of similar quality
- Is it available in the Southeast US
Any other recommendations on cheap unwooded chardonnay?

Last I heard the Banrock Station, which I used to love, is not distributed in this country anymore. It is in Canada. I love the St Andrews too which is available from www.southernwines.com for $7.99 per bottle. This holiday season I've been going through a box of Cooper Creek Gisborne Unoaked Chardonnay from New Zealand. I got it from www.chambersstwines.com for $8.49 per bottle. At two parties over this past weekend, I received many, many favorable comments from guests. I loved it too. A more elaborated TN will be posted at a later time.

For my nephew's prenuptial dinner I recommended a chardonnay or a sauvignon blanc as well as a cabernet sauvignon (for the beef choice on the menu). Like you, I thought more people are familiar with chardonnay. However, with the fish dish the sauvignon blanc probably would have been a better match than the chardonnay with which we ended up (we were restricted to the choices available at this one restaurant). The pasta dish would have been okay with the sauvignon blanc too probably although not an ideal match.

Yup, sorry Jezmund, hit the search button above and put in "unwooded chardonnay" and all the previous threads will appear. IK, Banrock Station is a Hardy's wine which is distributed locally...you think they might have switched labels to the Hardy's designation?

The only other Hardy's brand I can find is: Moondah Brook Unwooded Chardonnay. However, I can only find it on Australian websites.
