Overall, I guess I was expecting more. The wines are nice but just not GGGREEAT!! (as in Tony the Tiger...). Also they did tasting with Cheese which was nice but isn't there something about "buy on Bread, sell ..." Nice winery though.

2002 Quintessa
Nose was a bit restrained once again (it must be me). Wine is very dark purple garnet, I thought it initially to be a bit simple but focused. Certainly a lot there but it appear to be a one trick wine. Fully bodied that with some air performed a bit better but only so. Tons of dark berries, hint of coffee, and a some complexity with a medium long finish. I was hoping for more. $100?

2003 Quintessa
This one came out of a decanter so I don’t know if that is why it performed better. Much lighter in color. Nose is more burgundy like, lots of layers of flavours. On palate, ripe red fruits like plums, berries, spices, earthiness, good acidity and a almost perfume like wood. Mouthfeel is much lighter than the above but still has some roundness and elegance. I preferred this to the ’02 but got the sense that this was not built for the long haul. $100?
