Verne, I would LOVE to see you in one of those "Why I switched to Macintosh" commercials, they could even have the new I-Mac doing realtime subtitles of your native vernacular into intelligible English.....

Love, Roberto

Good, then we'll fit you for a Volvo station wagon and get you a "Nader / Clinton in '04" t-shirt and you'll feel so much better....

On Friday night I spilled water on my Mac laptop. Today I had to bring it in to see if it is salvageable. But I still love Macs.

I wish it were just the keyboard, but a laptop is not so easy.

Once spilled a Barolo over my keyboard and would have cried not for the loss of the computer but for the loss of the Barolo--would have cried but I had consumed enough Barolo that night not to care.

I lucked out; that glass of water cost me only $190.00--new keyboard. The laptop is fine.

Got a scare, though, when I went to pick it up. The technician could not get it to start up. I innocently asked if he was sure he had a/c juice. He asked what I meant by a/c.

"Alternating current," I said, "the stuff that runs this stuff."

He laughed me off, went to the back, came back and announced that the tech in the back got it to start up. So he tries again--nothing. He looks at me oddly, walks over to the next cubicle, plugs into that a/c and "voila."

His a/c was indeed dead.

After 3 days and 550 later the machine has been purged of its' Windows ME and the XP installed along with 3 times the original memory. Then I couldn't log on because I forgot my Password that was changed with my last E change. That sweet Jackie came to the rescue and, hopefully, I'm now back on board. Naturally, our other esteemed moderator, " Without-A-Bucks-Clue " could only say Whassup? when asked fer help. WW

Here's hoping XP solves the problems, WW. I'm using ME, too, and consider it a disaster, but haven't gotten around to changing out the OS yet. Will be curious to hear how it goes for you.

BTW, I love Windows XP -- by far the best Microsoft operating system yet. It is very user friendly.

WW,

So glad I could help. Don't pick on poor Bucko. He can't get to all the hidden stuff like I can. He's a great moderator and I love him.

Love it sofar. Dawned on me after the technician left I could have bought a new machine for less than the repair. He said that he sends a commission to Micro every month for the biz he obtains off ME. Hotsie, my advice is download a new system now whilst it can be done online. At 95 bucks per hour the derned techies thunk they be almost in Buckinheimers league. Love this hummer so fer.
