In view of yet another question about sulfur, I think this site could use a FAQ section. Does anyone agree?

Is this something the moderators would typically do? Perhaps we could each generate some proposed questions and answers and the moderators could edit them into something that makes sense and eliminate duplication. Or the moderators could post a list of questions, we could select some to answer, generate the anwers and submit them back to the moderators for editing.

Only Jackie can change board structure. Moderators can only edit/move/delete messages if they are out of line. We have a VERY light hand on the delete button, but SPAM gets nuked quickly.

"Poop a nuke for spamming." That's got a nice ring to it.

Good thought. I agree we COULD create a new forum for Frequently Asked Questions but the way the software works, it would only show topics from the last x number of days, depending on what the user's preference is set to. I'm not sure the FAQ topics would be seen, especially by newcomers who don't know their way around yet.

I'm wondering if we might want to turn some discussions into standing html web pages that we could provide links to, i.e. make a library of popular topics.

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

What topics would we be including? Can we begin to compile a list?

Jackie

Along with the sulfites questions, there are lots of "sweet red wines" recommendation questions (I've even been e-mailed off site from newbies on here).

And, I'm sure foodie and others are tired of answering the "which wine with pasta" questions.

A FAQ page would be great, though I'd also say that most of the time people post their question without reading recent posts and threads which would, almost always, provide them with answers.

Based on the way this site works, Jackie has a point about creating FAQ page or pages. Perhaps newbies can be led at the beginning to the FAQ pages with a comment that asks "before you type your question look at the FAQ section..."

A list of FAQ should be quite simple to build, starting with sulfites (sulfur, sulpha) on to when to chill and at what temperature, sweet red, et al.

A look back at the newbie section should give us the list.

That's SCUBA diving, you old codger. Skin diving is what you were doing when that whaling boat tried to harpoon you!
