Have been given a bottle of french wine (red)from the listel wineary domaine du bosquet, 1977 vintage , vin du pays ,
anyone any ideas as to whether this is a good wine or just plonk?
Any help would be appreciated

Vin de pays is French country wine. That means it is a superior grade of vin de table. It is produced according to regulations concerning grape varieties, yields and localities. That does not mean it is a superior wine than can be laid-up for many years. These wines are meant to be drunk young and many of them can be quite good when young.

Vin de table is the lowest grade of wine defined in French law. It cannot claim a specific origin and is usually sold under a brand name.

You might want to go ahead and try it, but I would suggest you have a standby bottle of known quality just in case you end up with a bottle of 23 year old vinegar.
