Hi,
We purchased the above wine in Bora Bora when we were on our honeymoon. They said it was a "great" bottle of wine so we splurged and paid the $400 to keep as a souvenier. Did we overpay for it?

Yes, it looks like Bora Bora saw you coming coming. From what I can find, there's a lot to be had for $120 to $180 range in the good ole USA. BTW, '94 was an above averge to excellent vintage by Parker and Tanzier's ratings. I'm sure our local experts will chime in with their responses.

If that was actually 400 Polynesian Francs, then you did good.

Drew hit it rite on. A good but not great vintage that sells in the 150 per range. WW

The 2000 which is supposed to be the best vintage in the last 100+ years doesn't even sell for $400.

Interesting to see the 2000 vintage brought up ... something I haven't mentioned to you all yet is that people here are are not NEARLY as excited about 2000 Bordeaux as Americans are. In fact, I've seen two vintage charts that rated it a 4 out of 5. One friend of mine here, who likes wine a lot, didn't even know that the 2000s were supposed to be good.
That being said, I am definitely picking up some 2000 Grand Crus for under 20 Euros when I see them.

Hi Joey and see you're having a terrible time over there. Forget what you've read in the local ratings. The best the french writers came up with on the 82 vintage originally was 3 out of 5. WW

Opened a 94 Mouton earlier this fall, and felt it still needs a few more years at the minimum till it peaks. The 90 is ready to drink now, though I would suggest decanting it if you do so.
