which wine to choose

I am just now starting to get into wine. In the past wines have been too dry or tasted too much like rubbing alcohol to me! I want to find a wine, if it is out there, that is very sweet with no bite to it. Which wine should I choose?

Hi Abkingery, and welcome to the Wine Board. Try a riesling (white wine) that does not have the words "dry" or "troken" on the label or comes from Alsace or Australia. For a red look for the newly released '03 Nouveau Beaujolais. If you like them, don't buy too many. They are made to be released fast, and the die fast. You can certainly drink them over the holidays.

First of all, the Innkeeper is on the money about the Riesling grape based wines. The only thing that I would like to add is that you should really be looking into GERMAN wines also as they are masters of producing sweet-to-very sweet wines.
