Hello. I am new to this site and very new to wine. So new that I have never even had wine before. Anyway, my question is, I want to start drinking a wine after dinner, but I don't know what is a good kind. I'm thinking I would like a red wine that is sweet and goes down smooth. I also have another question. I've been reading some of the other questions and you talk a lot about dry wine and drier wine. What does dry mean when you're talking about wine?

Thank you for your help.

Try one of the lower priced imported ports to begin with. It is a nice after dinner wine and slightly sweet. Grapes naturally have sugar in them as you might have noticed if you have ever eaten one. Most experianced wine drinkers find that sugar distracts from other attributes of the grape found in wine. Therefore vinters attempt to vintify most or all of the sugar out of table wine. When all the sugar is gone, the wine is dry.

Thank. you. Now, when you say imported ports do you have any specific wine names that I could try. I'm very ignorant when it comes to wine. As you can see.

Martinez Porto, Fine Ruby. Should be less than $15.00. Sorry, but that's where these start.
