But, I don't think we're talking quality here... I saw a Merlot, and a Chardennay, but there was a couple there looking at me funny, so I bolted... -_-

This is the way I understand the story. The wine for WalMart was formulated by the conclomorate Bronco Wines. These are the same folks who bought and brought back the Charles Shaw brand, and formulated a wine that is sold at Trader Joes for $2. It is known as Two Buck Chuck's. So long as they are formulating and bottling wine for two different mass retailers, how much difference could there be in the two brands when they are bottling hundreds of thousands of bottles per month. So, the way I look at it, WalMart customers are being ripped off by $3 per bottle.

You got that right IK. And most people who buy wine produced and marketed that way are likely ripped off somewhere along the line, because many bottlings of the same wine appear under different labels--at different prices.

*scratches head* Yeah, sorry about that... But if I DID have a direct comment about wine, like how good it tasted, someone would probably come after my parents... lol, Like you said, I'm a teen-ager, and can't drink wine yet. And foodie and Innkeeper, thanks for that info. That's very interesting, I'll keep it in mind.

I just had a fond memory of when I turned 18--back then it was the legal drinking age in my home town, not that I hadn't already tasted a great deal of wine in my Italian-American household.

LoL mmmm yes, many fond memories of now being 21 and able to purchase wine, though, like Foodie, I was able to sample a few wines before I turned this age, due to parents whom would have the occasional glass, and had no problems with me learning some of the varying tastes. I joined this board a good year before I became of legal drinking age. I learned quite a bit that year that gave me a jumpstart on my quest for wine knowledge. It made turning 21 much more enjoyable and educational. Keep coming back.

I've been busy. Finally finished up college and started my job. I bought a house last semester so I have to work a lot to keep my head above water. This also means I don't have any money to spend on wine, unfortunatly.

Amazingly I have been to a couple of wine websites (info, not purchase) that ask you to certify that you're 21 before entering the site. I didn't know you had to be 21 to learn about something. Ironically, when I was at UC Davis, I knew many viticulture and enology students who were a couple of years into their studies before they were 21.
