Almost opaque cloudy dark purple. Floral nose of rich dark fruit, vanilla and tar. Flavors start out rich with a good dose of tar, good middle with a bright fruit element and then the bottom falls out! The finish is simply astringent tannins. Like watching a good movie and the ending is cut off. 13% Alc/vol. $9.99. Will have to try another bottle to see if I can catch the ending!

Argentine Malbecs, South African Pinotages, Wonders from Oz, Sauvignon from Kiwiland, soon Uruguarian Tannat; we need a Southern Hemisphere tread.

I'll second that, IK. BTW, the Falling Star, which you posted on nearly two years ago, and Zenda this October, is now available locally at $4.39, or $3.95 with the case discount. We're just starting our fifth case. Argentine juice is indeed a-risin'.

Add another request for a 'Southern Hemisphere' category.

Hotwine and other fans of Falling Star, I've been drinking a very tasty 'Falling Star' Sauvignon Blanc blend w/10% Semillion lately, local price is on par with their Merlot/Malbec blend ($5). Not a world-beater, but very nice juice with seafood. I just don't see how you can beat this for the money.

And a reminder to keep your eyes open for Bodegas Balbi Syrah/Malbec, a gutsy, tasty Argentine red blend which retails for $7 or so (But goes on sale here often as a loss-leader at 3 for $10-killer QPR). Great with crusty bread and good Tillamook Cheddar, (2 lbs @ $5 from Costco).
