Have recently become involved with a local wine tasting club. Our next tasting focuses on wines from the Loire region. Our club is informal; each member receives an assignment on what type of wine to bring to tasting.

I have been asked to bring a Vouvray. The following are available in NH’s state run liquor store. Any opinions on which is most enjoyable and characteristic of the Vouvray style? (I believe I tried the B&G last summer and did not care for it. Too sweet and not enough acidity.) If none of these fare well, I will then see what is available at our local wine stores.

B & G 750ML 8.99
Ch de Montfort 750ML 8.99
Marc Bredif 750ML 15.99
Marquis de Goulaine 750ML 8.99
Pichot Dom Moriette 750ML 10.99
R Michele 750ML 8.99
Sauvion 750ML 7.79

Thank you for any advice you can provide.

I don't know any of these wines. Some of the better producers in the region are Huet, Foreau, Moncontour, and Bourillon-Dorleans. Other decent choices are Freslier and Moyer.

I have had the Monfort. It is not the dry variety of Vouvray. I thought it was a good wine--sweetness adequately balanced by acidity--but not to my taste. As to typicity, I believe Vouvray is generally sweet or off dry, so I think the Monfort is typical. Don't know anything about any of the others.
