Cabernet Franc

Well, last year we whooped up the 1996 Ironstone Vinyards, California, Cabernet France; and, sure enough, the 1997 went up a dollar. Considering the next decent Californian Cabernet Franc costs upwards of $25.00, the Ironstone is still a fabulous value for a fabulous wine.

Innkeeper....tell us how the 97' compares to the 96' please. I love the stuff!!!!

Just as a balancing act, I did not care that much for their Cab Franc. However, I did like the following wine of theirs:

1998 Ironstone, Obsession, Sierra Foothills, $7, 32,000 cases. 100% Symphony, a cross of Muscat and Grenache Gris. Very floral, full of tropical fruit -- a nice match for Pacific Rim food or as a summer sipper.

I , too thot the Cab-franc was a fine wine for the money. Especially good with all the grilled foods we do here in Az.Look for the Lockwood 97 Cab. This is a serious glass of grape and should still be in the 10-12 buck range.Should be on shelves shortly. Winoweenie

Well, we had the last '97 tonight. It was wonderful with burgers and salad. The acid still sliced through the salad. Has anybody tried the '98s? We're a little nervous in the service. Should we be trolling the Loire?
