Ferreira Tawny Port

Had a glass of this at Sonomo Bistro in Charlotte with a cheese plate. It was a young tawny appearing more ruby than amber in color. Found it to be a little like tasting plump juicy prunes rahter than the dried out fruits of some more mature tawnies. Very pleasant if not a classical match to the Cashel Blue (Irish bleu cheese on the cheese plate). A 10-year or 20-year Tawny Port might have matched better but were not on the wine list. (I picked three cheeses from about 12 available. I started with Laura Chenel goat cheese from Sonoma--always creamy and delicious-- then British Farm Cheddar and the bleu cheese).

I see below that IK also posted on this nonvintage port. He also found it to be juicy and nice.

Love Lauras' Cheeses. I've been buying her classic goat cheeses since she started her operation. By the way, when she finished her apprentiship in France her teacher came back with her to start her business. WW

Their 20 y/o is the best around IMHO.
