Roberto, what's going on with Allegrini. I'vd had the '95 and liked it, bought some '96 and haven't tried it. I now see the '97 with raves from RP and hear it described as delightfully ripe, low in acid, and ready to drink. Has Allegrini been co-opted by the forces of evil? Or were they merely overwhelmed by the vintage?

The last time I was actually AT Allegrini, Franco gave a twenty minute lecture in Italian on his new winemaking equipment and technology and the translator reduced it ALL to "Metodo Di Grazia" (the new wave Svengali of the Piemontese heretics) as a JOKE but then found he didn't have to say anything else....

It is truly sad. Recently, Marilisa has been quoted in Decanter as saying "How would we look if our wines are poured next to Cru Bordeaux or Great California Cabernets and they are different?" That is just plain tragic....
