Mystery solved

For months I have been looking at 4 bottles in my cellar that had lost their labels. By the capsule I was aware that they are Italian wines.

Opened one last night and swear it is a Settimo Dolcetto D'Alba--vintage? Clean, both acidic and tannic, but quickly softens in the glass, berry fruit, a food wine to be sure.

It paired quite well with escarole en brodo with tortollini formaggio.

Sounds like a lovely meal. What happened to the labels after they fell off? Did the mice carry them away. When it happens here, we collect the fallen labels, match them with the bottles they fell off of, and scotch tape them back on.

Good point: can't find one of them anywhere. Maybe my wife is playing games with my wine cellar habits...

You could always photo copy a label of the 1929 Mouton & glue those to your naked bottles? Bring them out for fun sometime... [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/biggrin.gif[/img]

wc, anyone who knows the Bordeaux bottle would quickly get me on that one...
