1960's B&G Prince Noir Bordeaux

Reporting in from the beautiful city of Victoria BC. A friend of mine gave me two bottles to take home. Bordeaux from the 60's. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img] They included:

(1) an unnamed bottle of St. Emilion that was all english in the label.
(2) The B&G Prince Noir Bordeaux.

So I had guessed that both would be dead soldiers. The St. Emilion certainly was. I mean well over the hill but not vinegar.

The B&G though, I'm drinking... IT IS ALIVE!! It's got a bit of a port nose but mostly cedar and tertiary nose now. THe wine on the palate had a strong woody, cedar, old wood, warm, mushroomy, but still dried fruits hint and a good dose of acidity. I can't believe that I'm drinking this with a lamb dinner right now in my room...the Fairmont Victoria Empress.

errr.. I suspect the B&G is newer now than I was told due to some font styles of the numbers but still no barcode.

It's allways fun when an old bottle that you really don't give a rats about turns out to be alive and well. WW

I should add that it was not very good and I suspect more 80's than 60's. Also I only ended up drinking one glass. having said that it was rather entertaining [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img]
