1981 Petrus

Hi guys!

I'm glad to say I'll be back for a little while.... at least. On my travels, I came across a bottle of 1981 Chateau Petrus that I could use some advice / tasting notes on. This is one of those wines you just don't open every day, if you know what I mean. I'm looking for any tasting notes, what to serve it with (if anything), to breathe or not to breathe.... anything you Petrus lovers out there can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome back ole WC. Good to hear your voice agin`. The only tasting notes I have on the vintage is 12 years old. My notes as follows. Not Petrus-like in the nose. A bit of reluctancy but finally after 45 mi in glass some aromatics started. This is only the 4th Petrus I`ve had and it seems a lot more backward than the 79, 71 and 70. Could be me, but this lil` hound `aint gettin` in the stable yet. winoweenie. I did try it a couple of years later and still couldn`t bring meeself to pay the asking.
