2000 Chateau Recougne Bordeaux Superieur ($10 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Bottled under supervision of negociant Jean Milhade. 12.5%(?) alcohol. Brought this one back in March and the prop advised hanging onto it for a little while before opening. Did so until tonight when we decanted it an hour before dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was right up Bev's ally. Gave a ton of ripe fruit on the nose and upfront, and it filled out terrifically with chewy tannin across the palate, with a very nice finish. A hellavalot wine for ten bucks.

Matched with simply gilled rib eye steaks over coals with mesquite chips. Also, finished the last batch of blue cheese dressing. For dessert with enjoyed something we learned when living in Portsmouth, NH; local strawberries dipped alternately in sour cream and brown sugar. Fantastic!

Went out a few weeks ago and got three more of these. Opened one tonight and split it with Mother and son-in-law. Enjoyed it with hickory smoked burgers and fixins'. Son-in-law had never had a Bordeaux before, and loved it as we did. Had to have a glass of Port afterward to make up for what I missed.

If you can, thry the Chateau Recougne Bordeaux Blanc. Not too sure about recent vintages but the 2000 was top notch a couple of years back - was a huge seller in my wine shop.
